Troubled Waters is the fourth episode of the fourth season of Columbo and the twenty-ninth episode overall. It first aired on February 9, 1975 and was directed by Ben Gazzara. In addition to Peter Falk as Lieutenant Columbo, the episode stars Robert Vaughn, Patrick McNee and Bernard Fox..

This is the first episode to star Robert Vaughn (who would later appear again in Last Salute to the Commodore) and the second and last to feature Bernard Fox (from Dagger of the Mind) and Dean Stockwell (from The Most Crucial Game). It is also the second and final directorial contribution from Ben Gazzara, the man behind the camera for A Friend in Deed. It is one of only three Columbo episodes to not take place in Los Angeles, California, coming between the aformentioned Dagger of the Mind (set in London) and A Matter of Honor (set in Mexico).

In Troubled Waters, Mrs. Columbo wins a cruise for herself and husband to Mexico, but Columbo finds himself far from a vacation when a murder occurs onboard.
