Mind Over Mayhem is the sixth episode of the third season of Columbo and the twenty-third episode overall. It first aired on February 10, 1974 and was directed by Alf Kjellin. In addition to Peter Falk as Lieutenant Columbo, the episode stars José Ferrer, Jessica Walter and Robert Walker. Robby the Robot, made famous by the film Forbidden Planet, makes an appearance in this episode.
In Mind Over Mayhem, the genius director of a Pentagon-funded think-tank murders a colleague to prevent his son from being exposed as a plagiarist.

- Robert Walker as Neil Cahill, Dr. Cahill's son. His plagiarism of the late Carl Finch kickstarts the story, as his father is willing to kill to keep his reputation intact.
- Lew Ayres as Professor Howard Nichsoln, Dr. Cahill's colleague who threatens to reveal Neil's plagiarism to the world, prompting Cahill to fatally run him over in his own driveway.
- Lee H. Montgomery as Steven Spelberg, a boy genius inventor with a familiar name.
- Lou Wagner as Ross, Dr. Cahill's assistant.
- Robby the Robot as MM7, a fully functional, super-intelligent robot created by young Steven.
