The Columbo Wiki

Curro Ragnel was the son of Señor Hector Ragnel in A Matter Of Honour.

Curro Ragnel lived in Tijuana and was the son of Hector Ragnel, a friend and employee of famed bullfighter Luis Montoya. As such, Curro worked for Luis Montoya at Montoya Ranch and even became close with Señor Montoya’s daughter, Nina. However, Curro grew ambitious and wished to become a matador like his father and Señor Montoya before him. One day at work, Curro attempted to fight one of Luis Montoya’s prized bulls, Marinaro, in the practice ring. However, this bid for a chance at bullfighting went horribly awry when Curro was knocked unconscious and had to be saved by his father. Curro ended up in the hospital under the care of Dr Leon. Later, Curro was informed that his father, Hector, was supposedly killed in an attempt to kill Marinaro to prevent Curro from trying to fight the bull again and dying. In the hospital, he was visited by Lieutenant Columbo, who was investigating Señor Hector’s death and the circumstances around it which he found suspicious. Columbo convinced Curro to once again enter the practice ring and pretend to try to fight Marinaro once more so as to lure Señor Montoya into the ring. Once Montoya was there, Curro ran from the ring and Columbo released Marinaro onto Montoya. The famous matador froze in place, revealing his motive for murder: when Curro was attacked and Hector had to save him, Luis froze in fear, and after the fact, he could not allow someone to live knowing his secret that he was no longer as courageous as he once was.

Curro Ragnel was played by A Martinez.
