Ashes to Ashes is the twelfth episode of the tenth season of Columbo and the sixty-seventh episode overall. It first aired on October 8, 1998 and was directed by Patrick McGoohan, who co-stars in his record fourth and final guest appearance as the murderer. In addition to Peter Falk as Lieutenant Columbo, the episode also stars Rue McClanahan, Sally Kellerman and McGoohan's own daughter Catherine. Richard Riehle makes his first of two appearances as Sergeant Degarmo.
In Ashes to Ashes, a suave undertaker kills his former lover at his mortuary then cremates her body. Columbo has to get creative in order to catch his villain.
